The Washington Humane Society’s 22nd annual Bark Ball welcomes George Stephanopoulos as gala chair.
The black-tie event invites Washington, D.C.’s “most illustrious residents” and their four-legged friends as their dates, according to the humane society. This year, the ball moves to the Washington Hilton to allow for the guest list to expand from 600 to more than 900.
Dogs attending the Bark Ball get to dine in style, with gourmet dog treats provided by Barkley Square Gourmet Dog Bakery & Boutique. A VIP reception will be followed by a silent auction featuring hotel stays, gift certificates and travel packages compliments of the exclusive Bark Ball travel partner, American Airlines.
Washington’s political pet set — Socks Clinton, Millie Bush, Leader Dole and Spot and Barney Bush — have all served as honorary pet chairs, according to WHS.
A new addition this year includes a live auction and pet psychic readings by “animal communicator” Diane Roadcap. The festivities are Saturday, June 6.
