Joie de Vivre, California’s largest boutique hotel collection, has made canine check-ins at its pet-friendly hotels even more welcoming for dogs and their owners. At its 15 pet-friendly boutique properties in the San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California, dog owners can now take their pets along without worrying about weight limit restrictions or pet fees being imposed for their stay, Hotels Magazine reports.

A Colorado couple said a bear entered their house through a dog door, ignored their barking pooch and ate all of his dog food before leaving. Brenda Freeman said she and her husband heard their dog make a strange noise at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at their home and they opened the door to their mudroom to find a bear standing "two feet away" from Freeman's husband, United Press International reports.
