Dogs Helping Injured Soldiers Under Government Program
A new Veterans Administration program adopts dogs from animal shelters, trains them and matches them with wounded warriors home from Iraq and Afghanistan to help with their recovery. For Army Specialist Cameron Briggs, his dog will be trained to help him find his wallet, cell phone and keys, which he habitually loses because of cognitive memory loss, The Associated Press reports.

Mass. Town Exiles Barking Dog
A North Attleboro, Mass., man was ordered to find a new home for his German Shepherd Dog following dozens of complaints about the animal’s noisy barking. Town selectmen voted unanimously to give the dog the boot after receiving complaints for four years from neighbors who live near 28 Smith St. The dog’s owner was given 10 days to find a new home for the animal outside of North Attleboro or surrender him to an animal shelter, TheBostonChannel.com reports.

Puppy Rescued From St. Petersburg Drain Pipe
The St. Petersburg, Fla., Fire Department rescued a puppy from a drainage pipe Monday afternoon. The fire department says they got a phone call that a puppy was stuck in a drain. The puppy, named Gucci, escaped from his house, ran across the street and hid in a drainage pipe, ABC Action News reports.

So sad that this dog in Massachusetts has to pay for a lazy, irresponsible owner. The poor dog is bored out of her mind and has a lot of excess energy, so she barks for entertainment. I'm sure a good long walk and a game of fetch every day would make a world of difference.
