Rumer Willis Says Puppy Is Best Birthday Gift

The actress says her dad, Bruce Willis, once gave her a puppy wrapped in a towel.

Rumer Willis says the best birthday gift she ever received was a puppy from her dad, actor Bruce Willis, when she turned 12.

“I had always wanted a dog and my dad came home one day and he had something wrapped up in a towel,” Willis told the Las Vegas Sun. “He was just holding it and … we were talking in the kitchen for … a good 10 minutes or so and he just said, ‘Oh here, can you hold this for me?’ And it was a puppy.”

The pooch, a Golden Retriever Willis named Daisy, was “the best,” she says. Willis says her dad was also responsible for her “strangest” birthday gift. One year “my dad got me a statue … like one you would put out by a pond or something. It was just a little girl reaching over a pond,” she laughs.

“I opened it and I just kind of looked at him and I was like, ‘I don’t really understand it but, you know, I’m happy to take it,’” she says.

Willis was in Las Vegas over the weekend to celebrate her 21st birthday. Joining her at nightclub Tao was her dad, mom Demi Moore, Moore’s husband Ashton Kutcher and a gaggle of celebrity friends.

So what was on Willis’s birthday wish list this year? “Getting to come here and have a birthday like this” was all she could have asked for, says the actress, who stars next in “Sorority Row.”

“You get to be in the center of all the things … that you get to try out when you’re 21,” she says. “I know some people might think it’s sort of cliché or whatever but why not?”

People are upset about this story because there are way too many animals being put down in shelters because they were an impulse buy or a gift. Take Easter for example, sure kids love bunnies around Easter time but what happens when that gift grows up and that same kid now wants a new bike? The bunny sits in the backyard in a cage. I know this happens because my neighbors thought an animal was a great gift for their kid.....

How sweet! When my husband and i were dating he gave me my first pom..I wanted a pom so bad and as an added bonus he was given to me as a gift! Not sure why some people are kinda upset about bruce getting his daughter a dog..I didnt read anywhere that she was not happy or didnt care about the dog.Didnt read where she ignores the dog either.Or given as JUST A GIFT,,Maybe i;m reading too much into it.

Not much to do with dogs.

Cute story but what happened to the puppy/dog? Does she still have it or was it just a "want thing" at the time? Pets are like human kids. You don't want them then discard or ignore them when you tire of them.
