First Dog Bo Vacations With Obama Family

The Portuguese Water Dog jetted to Martha’s Vineyard aboard Air Force One.

The first family is on Martha’s Vineyard this week, but it’s possible the most highly anticipated Obama may be the littlest one – first dog Bo.

The Associated Press reports island vendors are doing brisk business selling T-shirts and hats adorned with a picture of a Portuguese Water Dog and the word “Bobama.”

In Edgartown, shopkeeper Richard White said he was doing well selling a shea butter and olive oil soap with the dog’s likeness.

“No one else but Oprah has this little bar of soap – it’s called the Bo Bar,” he said.

The island also held its first-ever dog parade Sunday, the aptly titled Martha’s Vineyard Dog Parade, in Bo’s honor.

“If Bo wants to come out and play, he’s more than welcome,” one visitor said.

Bo and the rest of the Obamas arrived on Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend for their first real vacation since the president took office. Bo accompanied the Obamas to Cape Cod on Air Force One, then joined the family on a helicopter ride to the island, where they’re renting a 22-acre compound.

I think it's pathetic we all have to tighten our belts because the economy sucks but the president
can spend money to fly a ddog in it's own jet to
join him & the family on vacation.

I think it's great that the Obama's brought Bo along with them. Of course he should join his family--he is a family member. Porties are very interactive, devoted, fun loving dogs that adore their family members. They feel deeply, and know when they are left out. Bo was so happy to be with them, I just know it--we have a Portie too. The Obamas probably had a much more meaningful vacation with Bo. But I wonder if their vacation flip flops are still intact--after all, Bo is still a chewing puppy. But that's ok, he's adorable.
