The Dublin Dog Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Charlotte, N.C.-based pet product manufacturer Dublin Dog Co. Inc, recently raised more than $20,000 to help provide a service dog for a local woman with cerebral palsy.

The funds cover all the costs associated with training a service dog named Butterball for Terry Montgomery of Winston-Salem, N.C. The money will also go toward food and medical bills incurred throughout the dog’s lifetime.

“We were met with an overwhelming sense of joy and accomplishment knowing that Butterball would not only be a companion for Terry, but would also provide the mobility and freedom that her disease has denied her for so long,” said Jason Watson, founder of the Dublin Dog Foundation and CEO of Dublin Dog Co. “Butterball could not have come at a more perfect time in Terry’s life as her daughter will be leaving for college this fall, and she will now be able to live independently and with confidence.”

To generate awareness of its efforts
to raise money, the Dublin Dog Foundation held a Let Freedom Bark charity bike
ride from Charlotte, N.C. to Washington, D.C., on July 4.

The Dublin Dog Foundation raised the funds on behalf of Canine Assistants, a nonprofit organization based in Milton, Ga., which trains and provides service dogs for those in need.

As part of its fundraising efforts, the foundation organized a national raffle for a custom-made Dublin Dog Dream Bike and Sidecar. It also held a Let Freedom Bark charity bike ride from Charlotte to Washington, D.C., to raise support and awareness for the campaign.
