Possibility of Mold Prompts Dry Dog Food Recall

Wysong recalls several maintenance and senior dry dog food varieties.

Posted: October 16, 2009, 5 a.m. EDT

Wysong Corp. of Midland, Mich., has issued a limited recall of select dry dog foods due to increased moisture levels and the possibility of mold.

The products are:

  • Wysong Canine Diets Maintenance: lot numbers 090617, 090624, 090706 and 090720
  • Wysong Senior: lot number 090623

A couple of cases of diarrhea have been reported, but they have not yet been directly linked to the pet food, according to a company representative, adding that they will continue to look into the matter.

In the meantime, a notice on the corporate website has asked pet owners not to feed any of these Wysong products to their pet.

Pet owners can contact Wysong for product replacement or return or exchange the product at the store from which it was purchased. Credit will be issued via the company’s distributors to the retailer.

To contact Wysong, e-mail wysong@wysong.net and write “Product Replacement” in the subject line.

you really want my opinion? STAY AWAY FROM EXPENSIVE, "BIG NAME" DOG FOOD BRANDS if you're paying more than $20 for a 50lb bag you're not buying quality dog food you're paying for fancy packaging and multi million dollar advertising. the contents? you mind as well mulch the contents of a dumpster and press it into pellet.

Wasn't all that long ago that a Premium dog food had a recall. I believe just about anybody could experience this.

When I read what was in dog food I started cooking their food myself, in the last year they have improved so much everyone notices. These dogs are ten and fourteen years old and they prance around like puppies. I don't trust any company to provide wholesome food for my dogs.

This is one of the many reasons that I use high quality pet food...no
