Actor Wilmer Valderrama has signed on to play a Cesar Millan-type character in a new half-hour sitcom loosely based on the professional dog trainer’s life and career, Variety reports.

The as-yet-unnamed show, which is bound for the Fox network, is being written and produced by HBO’s “Hung” executive producer Emily Kapnek. Though plot points are still being worked out, Valderrama will apparently play a character who’s built a dog training and media empire similar to Millan’s.

The trade paper also reports that Millan and Valderrama, star of “That ’70s Show” and “The Dry Land,” will both have non-acting credits on the show.

Millan is best known for his National Geographic Channel show “Dog Whisperer.” He has written several books about dog training, including “Cesar’s Way,” and has appeared on various TV news and interview shows

It's hard to say what I think of this. It could be downright stupid, as many sitcoms are these day, or it might actually be one that is very comical. Hopefully, the producers will use this opportunity to show some good training tips and to get the message across that people need to spay and neuter their pets.
