At the start of the 2009 Halloween Costume Contest, we didn’t think last year’s costumes could be outdone. But we put our faithful DC visitors to the test, and boy did you deliver!

More than 200 entries and 3,000 votes later, you gave us your 10 favorites. It was a difficult going through the pages and pages of costumed dogs (but who doesn’t love dogs in costumes?), but we’ve managed to narrow the field down to our top three picks.

But we couldn’t end it there. While looking through all the entries, we thought there were a few honorable mentions that, although they didn’t earn enough votes, were just too cute or creative not to share.
