Man Now Faces Jail for Throwing Dog Off Roof
A Brooklyn man who tossed a 1-year-old dog off a roof this summer now faces jail after he failed to show up for his sentencing Tuesday. Fabian Henderson pleaded guilty last month to aggravated animal cruelty and got a deal that banned him from owning a dog again but spared him jail time, the New York Daily News reports.

Baltimore Animal Control Officer Shot, Unclear Why
A Baltimore animal control officer was shot while investigating reports that someone had five dogs living at in a house. The Baltimore City Health Department says 37-year-old Jermaine Barnes was shot and the driver's window of his vehicle was shattered. Police haven't determined why the officer was shot, The Associated Press reports.

Furry travelers now have a place to stretch their legs at Atlanta's airport. A new fenced-in dog park is part of the ground transportation centre on the west end of the passenger terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, The Associated Press reports.

Kansas Man Says Dog Saved Him From Fire
A Kansas man credited his dog with saving his life in a fire at a Wichita duplex. Billy King said he was asleep when the fire broke out on the other side of the duplex. He said he woke up only when his dog, Skip, started to bark. King uses a wheelchair and phoned his son for help, The Associated Press reports.
