Officer Mourns Loss of K9 Partner
For more than three years, a German Shepherd mix named Blek chased down hundreds of suspects and always came back to his handler, Ted Dahlin. Last week Blek ran into a wooded marsh in north Houston in pursuit of several burglary suspects. When Blek did not come back, Dahlin and other officers began searching for him, the Houston Chronicle reports.

A puppy from London who ate a full-length plastic arrow and a dog who ate a Homer Simpson toy feature in a list of the most memorable cases handled in the last year by a veterinary charity. The PDSA said veterinary staff compiled a "top of the ops" list of cases as the charity marked a record of more than 100,000 pet operations this year, The Press Association reports.
