America’s Top Dog Model 2010 Contest Kicks Off

The competition is on the hunt for the country’s most eco-friendly canines.

Posted: January 4, 2010, 5 a.m. EST

The theme for America’s Top Dog Model 2010 Contest, which kicked off last month, is “Go Green with Style.” Contest founder Jo Jo Harder says it rolls each of the past five contest themes -- fashion, home, travel, entertaining, and sustainability -- into one.

To enter, dog owners must submit a professional photograph that best illustrates what their pooches are doing to reduce their carbon “pawprints” and live an eco-chic lifestyle by May 15.

“I think it’s a great platform to help educate people on sustainability and the different ways you can go green with your pet,” Harder says.

In addition to submitting a photo, posh pooches are invited to attend live casting calls. One casting call is scheduled in April at the Iams Bark in the Park event in Cincinnati. Other casting calls are in the works, Harder says.

The America’s Top Dog Model 2010 Contest winner will be featured on the cover of Pet Style News magazine and the cover of America’s Top Dog Model’s 2012 calendar. Also up for grabs is a three-night stay at Cincinnati’s Westin Hotel during the Cincinnati Reds present Iams Bark in the Park event in September 2010, a bon Christiani custom collar, and a new America’s Top Dog Model Signature T-shirt, among other prizes.

Eleven eco-friendly finalists will win a spot in America’s Top Dog Model 2012 calendar and an Eco Cozy coat from Gold Paw Series.
