Oprah Winfrey got double the fun for her recent 56th birthday Jan. 29 – two new puppies, 14-week-old
English Springer Spaniel siblings Sunny and Lauren.
Winfrey introduced the puppies on her talk show. “I did decide, though, to get myself a little birthday gift this year. Actually, I thought I’d get myself two,” she told the audience. “I want you to meet my two new babies.”
Sunny and Lauren are rescues from Chicago-based animal shelter PAWS. Winfrey said she had contacted PAWS founder Paula Fasseas recently and asked her to be on the watch for any Springer Spaniel puppies that need adopting.
“They just arrived in time for my birthday,” Winfrey said. “[Paula] rescued these little gals from the pound. They could have been euthanized if they weren’t adopted. Can you believe that? And now they’re gonna go home with me.”
