Nestle Purina Petcare’s Beneful brand of pet food has kicked off a national video contest that invites dog owners to share their ideas for a dream dog park. One winner’s idea will help serve as inspiration for a renovation of a dog park in their area.
The Beneful WagWorld Dream Dog Park Contest, which launched May 3, invites dog owners to submit a short video (less than 2 minutes) at www.benefuldreamdogpark.com that answers the question: If you had $500,000 to create the ultimate dream park for you and your dog, what would you do? Entrants must also describe in 100 words or less how a makeover of their neighborhood dog park would enhance their daily adventures with their dogs.
A grand-prize winner will receive $5,000 cash and a year’s supply of Beneful brand dog food. In addition, Nestle will provide a donation worth $500,000 to renovate a dog park in the winner’s neighborhood.
Jason Cameron, host of DIY Network’s “Desperate Landscapes” and “Man Caves,” will manage the renovation project as the lead designer.
“My dog CJ and I are best buddies, and we truly love spending time together, whether it’s playing at the park, running errands or hanging out on the couch,” Cameron said. “I’m excited to see how other dog lovers enjoy life with their four-legged friends, and to hear their dreams to help create the ultimate dog park for their daily adventures together.”
Purina has also tapped pet author Arden Moore, host of “Oh Behave!” on Pet Life Radio, to help on the project.
The deadline to enter is June 18. Ten finalists will be posted online at www.benefuldreamdogpark.com from July 14 to August 11 for public viewing and voting.
Cameron and the rest of the WagWorld Dream Team will select the grand-prize winner, with 10 percent of the finalists’ scores coming from the public voting session. Nine runners up will each receive a year’s supply of Beneful dog food.
