A barking dog led Ferndale, Mich., police to the discovery of a marijuana-growing operation in the basement of a 44-year-old man's house. One hundred fifty plants were among items found at the home in the suburb north of Detroit. Memphis Adopts Mandatory Spay-Neuter Ordinance
The Memphis City Council has approved a mandatory spay-neuter program for dogs and cats. Under the program, owners of intact animals can buy a one-time $200 permit. Also, pets registered with an approved organization like the American Kennel Club or the Cat Fanciers Association could remain intact. The ordinance adopted Tuesday will exempt service animals and has other exceptions, The Associated Press reports.
