Looking for a fun, dog-friendly event? If you’re in Southern California, check out the first annual Love ’Em and Leash ’Em event at Irvine Regional Park in Orange, Calif., on Saturday, February 26 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Park ranger Maureen Beckman (left) and OC Hiking Club president Suki Reed will educate dog owners about hiking safely with dogs.
Representatives from the OC Hiking Club have designed three dog-friendly hikes on the park’s beautiful trails. Depending on your and your dog’s fitness levels, choose from easy (Pokey Pooch Hike), intermediate (Moderate Mutt Hike) and advanced (Hearty Hound Hike). Registration for the three hikes opens at 8:30 a.m. All dogs must be on a 6-foot leash at all times.
In addition to the hikes, volunteers from two pet rescue organizations — OC Animal Care and Southern California Dachshund Relief — will be on-site with adorable dogs available for adoption.
