Members of the Borzoi Club of America are ready for a disaster at a moments notice.
|
The Borzoi Club of America recently received the AKC Community Achievement Award for its disaster preparedness website
ReadyBorzoi. While the website is targeted at
Borzoi owners, any dog owner will benefit from the information.
ReadyBorzoi is a one-stop spot for details on different types of disasters, readiness kit information, links to state disaster plans, shelter contacts, key information on everyday emergencies and other multiple tools and links. There’s also a “Buddy List” of Borzoi club members in every state who are willing and able to provide assistance such as boarding, transport or supplies in the event of an emergency.
You might not have a Borzoi, but it doesn’t mean you can’t be just as “ready.” Check out local resources and talk to friends and family in and out of your area. Put together a
disaster kit and make a
plan of where you and your dog can go in case of an emergency. You never know when a disaster will strike
– but you can always be prepared.
