Now through October, NAPPS members will collect pet products to be donated to local animal shelters and rescue groups. Requested items for donation include pet toys, treats, blankets, towels, rugs, beds, leashes, collars, coupons, newspapers and bleach.

Presents 4 Pets will be held in conjunction with the Humane Society of the United States’ National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Nov. 6 to 12.

“We encourage all pet owners and pet lovers to get involved,” said Tiffany Hammer Manson, chair of the NAPPS Presents 4 Pets Committee. “This is a great way to make a difference in the lives of shelter and rescue animals in your community.”

Those who wish to participate in the sixth annual Presents 4 Pets should contact a NAPPS pet sitter in their area by visiting here

In addition, shoppers of online retailer FetchDog.com will be able to donate a percentage of their total purchase to the campaign.

In 2010, NAPPS raised more than $63,900 in cash and supplies through the program.

Great idea!! I work in a nursing home and the laundry staff save all the blankets and towels that can't be used anymore and I take them to our local shelter.

AWESOME!

(I JUST HAVE TO SHARE) THERE IS A LADY IN OUR AREA THAT TAKES IN DOGS AND CATS BOTH, AND GETS THEM SPAYED AND NEUTERED (WITH THE HELP OF A VET AND LOW INCOME FEES, AND DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC) THEN ADOPTS THEM OUT TO NEW HOMES. SHE HAS A NO KILL POLICY AS WELL. I AM ALWAYS TAKING HER TOYS MY DOGS DONT PLAY WITH ANYMORE, PLUS USED/IN GREAT SHAPE BOWLS WHEN I GET NEW ONES AND ANY LEASHES OR HARNESSES I FIND THAT I NO LONGER USE. MY MOM EVEN ADOPTED A LITTLE MANCHESTER TERRIER MIX FROM HER. WE LOVE HELPING HER AND THE ANIMALS BOTH! SHE IS DOING SUCH A WONDERFUL THING, I ADMIRE HER DEDICATION AND LOVE FOR THE ANIMALS!

Sounds like toys for tots. One can also donate locally. We give all our old pet stuff and blankets to our local vet. They can always use it.
