The Genome Barks podcast series features lectures from the respected AKC-CHF Breeders Symposia and gives everyday pet owners and breeders alike an inside look at the work being done by the AKC and the AKC Canine Health Foundation. It is released every two weeks here.
“The main goal of the Genome Barks podcast series is to disseminate canine health information that supports our mission of helping dogs live longer, healthier lives,” says Erica Kitchen, director of development and communications at the AKC Canine Health Foundation.
Recent topics include first aid – complete with an interview with the former commander of the United States Army Veterinary command – non-traditional diets, nutrition requirements for canine cancer patients and heart disease. And while many podcasts are directed at professional breeders and other dog professionals, “most of the podcasts cover topics that are useful for all dog owners,” Kitchen says.
