Antifreeze Is Sweet But Lethal to Pets
It's a fatal attraction: Puddles of sweet-tasting antifreeze on driveways and garage floors are hard for thirsty pets to resist. Just one teaspoon of ethylene glycol -- the toxic ingredient found in antifreeze -- is deadly to a 10-pound cat, and about five tablespoons will kill a Labrador Retriever if the antidote isn't given in time, say veterinary toxicologists, HealthDay reports.

Woman Claims She Owns World’s Oldest Dog
A British woman said she is submitting her 25-year-old canine to Guinness World Records for the title of world's oldest dog. Glenice Bagley of Widnes, England, said she obtained the sheepdog mix, Sheba, in 1987 when the dog was already 3 years old, putting her at an older age than the current 23-year-old record holder in Italy, United Press International reports.

Thirty-six Dogs Rescued From Breeding Facility
The 36 dogs arrived frightened and unkempt on Halloween night, rescued from a Missouri “puppy mill” that had recently decided to close. Lhasa Apsos, an American Eskimo Dog, Papillons and other breeds were carefully removed from cages in a truck that pulled into an East Amherst, N.Y., dog training center Sunday night. The center became the nerve center that night for what advocates described as one of the region's largest rescue missions, The Buffalo News reports.
