Based on the internationally beloved series of books and characters created by Herge, the film, which opens Dec. 21, chronicles the unquenchably curious young reporter Tintin and his fiercely loyal dog Snowy. Snowy's one-of-a-kind personality helps Tintin navigate the exciting ventures they embark on together.

To help celebrate Tintin's "right-hand pup," Purina is launching its Facebook page to help contribute to real-life canine heroes with a donation of up to $150,000 to a variety of service and therapy dog organizations.

For each “like” the Facebook page receives, Purina will donate $1, up to $150,000, to be split equally between three service and therapy dog organizations. Fans may also share the page with their friends. For each friend who visits the promotion page by clicking on the link in the shared message, an additional $1 will be donated. The program will run through Jan. 3, 2012.

The featured service and therapy dog organizations that Facebook fans can help support are:

Patriot Rovers Inc. – committed to rescuing, training and deploying psychiatric service dogs that will provide support 24/7 for military veterans to enhance their lives.

Reading Education Assistance Dogs – the groundbreaking literacy support program that helps children discover the joys and rewards of books and reading, through the experience of reading to a best friend and great listener...a therapy dog!

Delta Society – an international nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching people's lives through positive connections with companion, therapy and service animals.
