VCA West Los Angeles is inviting animal lovers to a fun-filled and pet-focused day of activities at its newly-opened animal hospital on Saturday, March 16 from noon to 6 p.m.
For more than a year, construction crews have been hard at work on VCA West L.A.’s new hospital at 1900 South Sepulveda Boulevard, just a few blocks south of its current location. Housing state-of-the-art treatment equipment, and providing parking for over 230 vehicles, the 42,000 sq. ft. facility is the largest and most technologically advanced small-animal hospital in the western United States.
The new VCA West L.A. facility houses a rare linear accelerator room to treat cancer patients, MRI and CT equipment, a physical therapy center including hydrotherapy treatment, state-of-the-art surgical suites, bone marrow transplant technology, pituitary tumor surgery facilities, alternative and holistic medicine specialists, and Board Certified Specialists in all areas of medical treatment.
“VCA has been a cornerstone of pet care in West Los Angeles for nearly three decades,” says Bob Antin, CEO of VCA ANTECH. “VCA WLA was our very first hospital and now with the completion of the new facility, it is among the most technologically advanced animal hospitals in the world. We’ve also continued to grow in the area of education and as a result have built a hospital with the highest caliber of training in the U.S. We are proud that we have both given back to the veterinary industry as well as made a significant contribution to our local community.”
In addition to tours of the state-of-the-art facility and the opportunity to meet the hospital’s professional staff of specialists, the open house will feature a full roster of expert speakers including authors Laura Numeroff (If you Give a Cat a Cupcake) and Kyra Sundance (101 Dog Tricks).
Plenty of ‘working’ animals will be on hand including SPCALA’s "DART" search and rescue response team, California Rescue Dog Association’s (CARDA) volunteer search dog teams and the LAPD K-9 Unit. Other ‘Animal Ambassadors’ will be available to meet and greet including those from Animal Encounters, providing agility demonstrations, as well as more exotic varieties from STAR ECO Station Environmental Education & Exotic Wildlife Rescue Center. VCA West Los Angeles staff will provide tips for ‘Critical Care/Emergency Preparedness”, “How to care for your pet” and “Behavior and Training.”
Complimentary refreshments, food trucks and fun activities for children including a temporary tattoo artist, balloon designers and face painters will be available throughout the day, making the open house a fun and educational event for the whole family.
