$200,000 at stake in nationwide dog park contest. Fifteen cities will vie for funding in an online campaign sponsored by PetSafe.

PetSafe’s third annual Bark for Your Park contest kicks off today, offering $200,000 in prize money for the development of off-leash dog parks in five U.S. cities.
Nominations are being accepted and voting conducted through May 31 at Petsafe.net. Fifteen finalists will be chosen June 5.
The winners, selected after additional voting at on PetSafe's website and Facebook page, will be announced July 31.
One U.S. city will receive a $100,000 grand prize good for the construction or renovation of a dog park.
"We know that dog parks are a great addition to any town–large or small–for dogs and their owners to get outside, exercise, socialize and enjoy the pet-friendly offerings in their communities,” says Randy Boyd, president and CEO of PetSafe, a Knoxville, Tenn., maker of pet behavior and lifestyle products. "We’re looking forward to cities across the nation whose residents love their pets as much as we do to jump at this opportunity.”
Four runners-up, including the city with the highest percentage of votes per capita, will receive $25,000 each to put toward local dog park plans.
The 2012 winner was Texarkana, Ark., which received $100,000 after collecting the most votes of the 15 finalist cities.
