A Look Back at Shirley Temple's Life with Dogs

The world lost an icon and we remember her with beautiful photos of her time spent with dogs.

Shirley Temple Black, one of the most popular child stars in Hollywood history, died late Monday night at the age of 85. While we could write for pages on her talents as a singer, dancer and actress, we'd like to honor her also as an animal-lover.

Shirley Temple began working with animals, specifically dogs at a very young age. Many of the movies she starred in featured animal companions including the film "Just Around the Corner," in which Shirley Temple assisted in the maintenance crew at a posh Manhattan apartment where there was a dog grooming and boarding center in the basement. The photos below are from movies as well as her own life and feature the comfort and ease she had around dogs. There is no question that her love of dogs was not part of her acting.

We all know kids and dogs make an adorable combination, so what could be better than dogs and one of the cutest child actresses in history. We hope you enjoy these snapshots of a remarkable woman and animal-lover.
