"Pawties” will be held across Washington at 26 animal shelters on October 4, 2014 in celebration of the Statewide Shelter Open House. And since October is National Dog Adoption Month, there’s double the reason to celebrate!
Guests will be treated to dog parades, door prizes and reduced adoption fees – a great benefit to those looking to adopt one of the thousands of homeless pets looking for forever homes.
Pawsitive Alliance is sponsoring this event in an effort to reduce the number of euthanized pets in the state of Washington. Currently, the approximate number of dogs and cats who are euthanized each year in Washington is 40,000 to 60,000. There are just far too many homeless pets and not enough homes.
Last year’s event brought increased awareness to the issue and participating shelters saw a 60 percent adoption increase.
If you live in or will be in the Washington area on October 4 and are looking for a new pet, visit one of the participating shelters and give a dog a forever home.
