Dog Beards for a Good Cause

Celebrate No Shave November (Movember) with beards.

November is the month of no shaving. Men are encouraged to ditch the razor and grow out their facial hair to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer. Bearded men may be popping up everywhere. Do not be afraid. It’s for a good cause.

We figured since our men will be sporting beards this month, why can’t our dogs do the same? Yes, male dogs are at risk for prostate and testicular cancer, too, especially if they haven’t been neutered. Yikes!

True, it may be a little hard for our dogs to grow a beard unless they naturally have one (like the Yorkshire Terrier or Shih Tzu), so we invite you to get creative. Put a fake beard on your dog and take a photo. Men, grow out your own beard and snap a picture of you and your dog. Or just take a "bearded” photo with your dog using his fur (check out this article for some great dog bearding photos). Send us those photos using the hashtag #movember. Let’s save the guys in our lives – both human and canine versions – and celebrate beards this month. Who knew raising awareness for cancer could get this hairy?
