As the ad states, service dogs "not only help those who cannot see, but also those who have seen too much.”

We know how great dogs are as pets. We understand the capacity they have for being a supportive member of our family and we are therefore not surprised when we hear about service dogs and therapy dogs helping their human companions.
In this commercial (below) by the Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation (KNGF), a soldier is in the midst of war. He sees a little girl, presumably deceased, lying a few feet away. The agony of the sight is apparent all over his face. A second solider kneels next to him, puts his hands on him, nuzzles his head against his and licks his face. The scene changes and we realize the soldier was having a nightmare back at home and it is his service dog in the second soldier’s place, waking him up. The commercial ends with this statement: "We not only help people who cannot see, but also those who have seen too much.”
A dog awakens a veteran during a nightmare in this KNGF commercial.
The commercial won Gouden Loeki (a Dutch commercial award) last year.
It’s a powerful ad that shows just how important dogs are to those in need.
