As the saying goes, when there’s a will, there’s a way. Eclipse, a black Lab, has found a way to get herself to the dog park whenever she wants to go.

For quite some time, Eclipse and her owner got on the bus close to their Seattle apartment and exited a few stops later at the dog park. It was a routine, and one Eclipse had apparently grown quite fond of. On one occasion, the bus arrived before Eclipse’s owner, Jeff Young, had finished his cigarette. Eclipse apparently wasn’t willing to wait and perhaps miss a trip to the park, so she got on the bus without him.

"We get separated. She gets on the bus without me, and I catch up with her at the dog park," Young told Komo News. "It's not hard to get on. She gets on in front of her house and she gets off at the dog park, three or four stops later."

Ever since, getting on the bus and going to the park alone has been a seemingly favorite pastime of the dog’s. She visits the dog park a few times each week (though not always alone) and Young revealed that about once a week he receives a phone call about Eclipse’s adventure. "I have to tell them, ‘no. She’s fine.’ She knows what she’s doing,” Young said.

Alone, Eclipse makes her way to the bus stop and gets on. She walks the aisle, finds a seat – sometimes next to a human passenger – where she can see out the window. When she recognizes her stop, she exits the bus.

Smart dog, but as a Metro Transit spokesman joked to Komo News, "She would be much safer in the world if she had her owner on a leash.”

What do you think of Eclipse’s solitary visits to the dog park? Let us know in the comments below.

If bus driver did feel safe for the dog or the people. The dog wouldn't not be on bus. Their people are not so nice to dog's People can steal the dog. Because my dog got stolen she had her had her dog's tag. I loved the story. It shows that dog can behave.
