Someone in store recommended it
The item was on sale
The item had a promotion I liked

AKC/Eukanuba Launch Poster Contest

The commemorative poster contest has become one of the highlights of the annual AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.

The American Kennel Club and Eukanuba have launched a poster competition to commemorate the seventh annual AKC/Eukanuba National Championship that’s taking place later this year.

Artists can submit an original two-dimensional painting or drawing on the theme of “The Purebred Dog and/or the Sport of Purebred Dogs.” In keeping with the theme, submissions should include multiple breeds.

Thematically, the artwork can incorporate a variety of images including, but not limited to: illustrations of the human/canine bond, the intensity of the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, images of people and purebreds in action and past winners.

The submission deadline is Oct. 8, 2007 for online entries and Oct. 9, 2007 for mail-in entries. A panel will select ten finalists, and a grand prize winner will be chosen among those finalists.

The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and a four-day/three-night trip for two – including airfare and hotel – to the 2007 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, being held Dec. 1 and 2, 2007, in Long Beach, California.

The winning artwork will be used in a commemorative poster that will be sold at the event and on the AKC website. Proceeds will be donated to Take the Lead, a nonprofit organization that provides services, support and care for people in the sport of purebred dogs who suffer the devastation of a life-threatening or terminal illness.

“The commemorative poster contest has become one of the most anticipated events leading up to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship,” AKC Chairman Ron Menaker said.

“This competition raises much needed money for Take the Lead, an organization that lies close to the hearts of many of us in the sport, while encouraging artists from around the world to participate in a competition that brings together and celebrates two popular passions; purebred dogs and fine art,” Menaker said.
