Art Bark Fest Celebrates Art, Wine, and Dogs

The fourth annual Art Bark Fest will feature animal art, dog-themed wines, and more.

Dog lovers who want to indulge their love for art, wine, and music as well as their adoration for dogs can attend the fourth annual Art Bark Fest on September 15 and 16, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Village, a hotel set below the peaks of the Squaw Valley USA resort near Lake Tahoe, Calif.

The two-day celebration will feature animal-themed art including crystal sculptures, jewelry, and paintings. View the work of a horse named Cholla that paints in abstract watercolor, as well as a jeweler who creates gold necklaces with your dog or cat’s nose imprint.

Between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., local wineries offer their dog-themed wines such as “2002 Two Dog Vineyard Merlot” from Graeser Winery and “Unleashed Chardonnay” from Mutt Lynch Winery.

For your dog’s entertainment, the Art Bark Fest holds a lake jump competition on Saturday and Sunday at noon. Other events include the Busy Bee Dog Show on Saturday and the Squaw Rescue demo on Sunday. Proceeds from the silent auction and raffle benefit the Human Society of Truckee-Tahoe and Squaw Rescue Dogs.

The L.A.-based rock band Kelly’s Lot and swing-rock duo Paul Covarelli and George Sauereier will provide live music.

Visit www.thebarkfestival.com, www.thevillageatsquaw.com, or call (530) 583-9247 to purchase tickets or find more information.
