Art Sales to Benefit Dogs and Cats in Shelters

A Brooklyn, N.Y., animal shelter will raise funds for the dogs and cats at its facility with an art auction.

Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC) is hosting an art auction this evening, June 26, 2007, to raise funds for its no-kill, privately-funded animal shelter in Brooklyn, N.Y.

More than 30 New York City artists will be featured at the free event, which runs from 7:30 to 10:30 at the animal shelter, located in the hipster haven of Williamsburg at 86 North 1st Street. Animals will be featured in about half of the artwork, a shelter spokesperson said.

Each piece will sell for $250, and all proceeds go directly to the shelter. This is the group’s 5th annual art auction, and past shows have brought in about $10,000. About 100 people are expected to attend.

For more information, visit www.barcshelter.org or call (718) 486-7489.
