Toy Story's Happy Ending
FAO Schwarz teams with celebrities for successful adoption event.
How much is that doggie and celebrity in the window?
Shoppers walking past the Fifth Avenue windows of the legendary New York City toy store FAO Schwarz got more than they bargained for one day last week: Instead of the windows typically over-the-top toy displays, a group of celebrities held puppies available for adoption.
The Sopranos Edie Falco held an Australian Shepherd mix, and American Idol Constantine Maroulis cradled a Chihuahua. Malcolm in the Middles Erik Per Sullivans puppy-for-the-day quietly snoozed as curious onlookers strolled past the store.
All 24 puppies found homes, and FAO Schwarz donated part of the days proceeds to organizer North Shore Animal League, a rescue organization. The event marked the final stop of the 20-city, cross-country Tour of Life, a joint initiative by more than 100 shelter and rescue groups across the country.
