Behaviorist to Teach Dog Aggression Seminar

Renowned vet behaviorist Nicholas Dodman will teach the first seminar in a series of dog training events.

Happy Tails Dog Studio of Portland, Maine, will be hosting a Canine Aggression Seminar — the first in an ongoing series of dog training events with animal behavior professionals — on March 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Bishop Street training facility.

The seminar, open to dog owners, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, dog trainers, and shelter workers, will be taught by Dr. Nicholas Dodman, professor, section head, and program director at the Animal Behavior Department of Clinical Sciences at Tufts’ Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists and the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists.

Dodman, who appears regularly on radio and television programs such as National Public Radio and Animal Planet, will cover the various types of dog aggression and respective prevention and management strategies, including fear-based conditions, compulsive behaviors, medical causes, and behavioral medications.

The seminar is being sponsored by Portland-based Planet Dog. The company’s flagship initiative is the Planet Dog Foundation, which receives a percentage of every Planet Dog purchase. In turn, the money is donated back to nonprofit canine service programs nationwide.

“We are excited to partner with Happy Tails Dog Studio to help bring esteemed dog professionals like Dr. Dodman to Maine,” said Catherine Frost, Planet Dog’s director of Marketing and Product Development. “Both companies are committed to educating our dog community and we look forward to offering dog lovers and their canine companions more big name dog-related events.”

Happy Tails Dog Studio also includes doggie daycare, boarding, and a day spa.

Interesting but....what are the fees, location etc. and will this be an online seminar also?
As a trainer, this could be an invaluable tool for working with problem dogs. More information needed.
