Four Legged Friends Foundation hosted its 2nd Bow Wow Meow event on April 22, 2007, to help find permanent homes for animals in urgent need. And not even the April showers stopped animal lovers from attending this fur-friendly festival.

The pet-adoption fair was revived in September 2006 by Sandra Lollino, founder of FLuFF, and is now being held biannually on LA’s San Vicente Boulevard in conjunction with the Brentwood Art Festival and the Greater West LA Chamber Business Expo.

“As many as 5 million animals are euthanized each year in city shelters,” Lollino says. “Our goal is to save animals in urgent need of forever homes.”

Lollino launched FLuFF in 2005 to promote awareness of the human-animal bond. It strives to educate the community on critical issues, such as the rights of the disabled and their assistance animals, and to promote the welfare of homeless cats and dogs.

And what better way to promote pet adoption than holding this animal-friendly event?

Dogs, cats and even rabbits were brought in for adoption by LA Animal Services and two additional rescue groups – Best Friends Animal Society and The Rescue Train.

The year’s event drew more than 8,000 attendees. A dog agility demonstration featured Sue Eastman from Nimble Dog Agility, who wowed the crowd by leading her trained dogs – as well as dogs picked from the crowd – through an obstacle course. Fun was definitely all around.
