It’s every football fan’s dream – and nightmare.
Chris Gallagher was thrilled when he and a friend scored Super Bowl tickets for club-level seats at the 30-yard line for Sunday’s game featuring the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. But when the $900-apiece tickets arrived at Gallagher’s home last Wednesday, the Arizona resident was at work. The courier slipped the FedEx envelope containing the tickets through Gallagher’s mail slot … and into the waiting jaws of Gallagher’s 3-year-old black Labrador Retriever, Buddy.
Gallagher returned home to find his prized tickets in a soggy heap of chewed-up cardboard. “It wasn’t funny at the time, and it happened after a bad day,” said Gallagher, in an interview with his local paper, the Glendale Star.
Luckily for Gallagher, Buddy didn’t chew up the tickets’ bar codes, which meant they could be replaced.
“About an hour or two after it happened, I was laughing about it,” said Gallagher, who appeared with Buddy on the Today show. “This is the ultimate ‘my dog ate it’ story.”
