Models Sought to Illustrate New Dog Breeds on Clothes

Online company hosting contest to find best Goldendoodle and Schnoodle.

With the rising popularity of so-called designer dogs such as the Goldendoodle a Golden Retriever and Poodle mix dog merchandisers are searching for ways to appease enthusiasts who may have different concepts of a typical designer dog.

One Internet company, specializing in clothing embroidered with logos of various dog breeds, is hosting a contest to find the best Goldendoodle and Schnoodle models.

These new breeds can often have several looks and styles as mixing two different standard breeds is not an exact science, says Amy Vansant Brunell, owner of DoodleSport.com. This means different logos for different versions of the dogs if were going to make every owner happy.

Dog owners who feel that their pet has the perfect look are invited to submit pictures to the website by February 1. Winners will be chosen by March 1, and will receive free, embroidered clothing and a signed ink-drawing of the new logo by cartoon artist Jim Hunt.

There are about 80 breed logos represented on the site, and Brunell hopes to build her catalog to include any breed that someone might want. With that in mind, she is inviting people to submit pictures of any breed that is missing from the website.

I know right now I'm missing a very Goldendoodle-looking Goldendoodle, a flat-coated Labradoodle mix, and a Schnoodle a Schnauzer-Poodle mix, Brunell says. But I welcome any breed were missing, or variations of breeds that are not quite represented with our current logos.

DoodleSport.com launched in November 2005, and offers T-shirts, sweatshirts, caps and other clothing embroidered with breed-specific logos. Clothing for dogs is also available.
