The Helen Woodward Animal Center coordinated a charter jet to fly 100 orphaned dogs and cats from Baton Rouge, La., to San Diego on Sept. 11. Fifty of the pets were transported to the Helen Woodward Animal Shelter in Ranch Santa Fe, Calif., and the other 50 made their way to San Franciscos Marin County Humane Society. The pets received medical and psychological evaluations, and many are ready for adoption. For more information, call (858) 756-4117.
