HSUS/AAHA Katrina Pet Wellness Program Ending

Program for animals displaced by Hurricane Katrina ends Nov. 30.

The Humane Society of the United States and the American Animal Hospital Associations HSUS/AAHA Pet Wellness Program ends Nov. 30, 2005. The program provides basic veterinary care through AAHA-accredited practices to pets displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Program applications will continue to be accepted through Dec. 15, 2005, for treatment invoices dated Nov. 30 or earlier, according to AAHA officials.

To date, more than 80 AAHA-accredited programs have participated in the program, providing physical exams, vaccinations, heartworm medications and short-term supplies to more than 640 pets.
