Jody Whitsell Wins AKC/Eukanuba Poster Competition

Artist to sign limited edition prints of winning design.

Jody Whitsell of Monroe, N.Y., won the third annual AKC/Eukanuba National Championship commemorative art poster competition, sponsored by the American Kennel Club and The Iams Company.

Her winning acrylic painting, Red, White and BlueAnd Every Other Hue! depicts one breed from each of the AKC dog groups in front of a waving American flag. Her design best captured the contests theme, The Wonderful World of Purebred Dogs, according to the AKC. As the winner, Whitsell receives $1,000 and a four day/three night trip for two to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championships, Janurary 14-15, in Tampa, Florida.

The AKC says it will produce a limited edition of 500 copies of the poster, which it will sell on its website. Proceeds from sale of the poster will benefit Take the Lead, a non-profit group that provides services, support and care for participants in the sport of dogs who have a life-threatening or terminal illness. Whitsell will be on hand to autograph posters at the AKC booth during the championships.
