The state of Washington has removed the much-maligned Univ. of Washington Huskies logo from its special collegiate license plate, reports The Seattle Times. Detractors say the logo, which the school has no plans to change, looks nothing like a Siberian Husky or Alaskan Malamute.

Firefighters Save, Resuscitate Dachshund
Firefighter Kathy Elsaesser rushed into the burning Lakeland, Fla. home of Venita Richardson and found the womans beloved Dachshund, Sebastian, barely breathing and huddled under a pile of clothes, according to The Ledger. Luckily, firefighter Mark Olivenbaum was on hand to administer doggie CPR.

Superbug May Pass From Humans To Pets
A large Philadelphia veterinary hospital reports that 38 animals caught drug-resistant staph infections over a 3-year period, reports The Charlotte Observer. Scientists say six of the animals caught the stubborn superbug from hospital workers who had close contact with the pets.
