With all that has been in the news about Dog Fighting, My fellow coworkers/animal lovers/subscribers to Dog Fancy, were quite appalled by page 73 in the October Issue. These ads do not say anything about dog fighting, but it is most definately implied. "Big and Nasty"? That poor dog-they've cropped the ears to look like horns!! The dog looks like an animal from Hell. I work in a Veterinary Clinic, and many clients have made comments after seeing this. We have pulled the magazines out of our racks and have placed them in the trash. Dog Fighting is beyond cruel. Words do not describe just how horrible it is. American Staffordshire Terriers aka Pit bulls are not bad animals, they are products of their environments. Thousands are euthanized because of guilt by association. Dog Fancy please do not patronize these people who run these ads. They imply that the breed is nasty, mean, etc. In my field I have met 5 pound dogs that are meaner and less trustworthy that the American Staff. Please don't let these so called breeders use your magazine to advertise cruel intentions.
