On "Do You Like Pets Better Than

The article mentioned that people now spend several billion dollars a year on dog and cat food - more that what is spent on baby foor. Also mentions that the reason could be a reaction from 9/11 or the fact that many people today are choosing NOT to have children. I think the 2nd reason has more validity. And, too, we are not taking into consideration that many people who have pets might one day have children. It's just that in the early years of a career some people want to work very hard to solidify their place in their chosen career. Children are in their plans, but at a later time in their lives. I really don't believe 9/11 has anything to do with the number of pets or the amount we spend on them.
