Emma Roberts to Star in ‘Hotel for Dogs’

The “Unfabulous” actress – and Julia’s niece – will star in a film adaptation of the popular novel.

Emma Roberts has been picked to star in “Hotel for Dogs,” a new film based on the popular 1970s young adult novel by writer Lois Duncan.

Roberts, who most recently appeared on the big screen in “Nancy Drew,” will play orphaned Liz, who along with her brother hides stray dogs in an abandoned hotel.

The 15-year-old actress is the niece of Oscar winner Julia Roberts. She made her film debut at 9 years old after winning the part of Johnny Depp’s daughter in “Blow.” Roberts became a teen star two years ago when she was picked to appear as Addie Singer in the hit Nickelodeon series “Unfabulous.”

The teen sitcom earned Roberts, who lives with her family in Los Angeles, a Teen Choice Award nomination and several Young Artist Award nominations.

Roberts doesn’t own a dog but says she loves to play with her famous aunt’s dogs when she visits Roberts’ New Mexico ranch. “But I would love to have my own,” she told E! Online. “That’s one of my dreams.”
