My yorkie armanie often falls down unexpectadley and lays still then gets slowly up and he often throws up and he often sounds like he is gasping for air. I dont know whats bothering him and he comes out normal on testing. Its very often symptoms repeating ive heard that its due to over breeding. Even sizures are often to pure breeds.

I have been battling epilepsy with my dog for 4 years now. We have been to neurologists etc...she is on medication which controls the seizures for the most part. Diva suffers from clusters of grand mal seizures. For those of you out there stick by your dog. Diva has a special place the "padded" laundry room, anything she can get hurt on during a seizure is covered by an old blanket or bedding. The room stays cool and dark...She's worth all time effort and money...

My chihuahua/shitzu mix is 12. she has seizures that don't happen in a set pattern. I would describe hers as: pupils becoming dilated, long swaying body motions, fast pulse, lifting her paws to her face and increased breathing. it lasts about 30 seconds to 1 minute and thirty seconds. never long enough to get her to a vet and blood drawn to be diagnosed. but now she throws up a few hours after and gets restless. I am starting to feel hopeless. Any help?

My 11 yr old Beagle has had what my Vet terms "mild" seizures. About 5-6 lasting 15 - 30 seconds. Always while eating, or immediately after eating. She seems fine afterwards. She is negative for tumors, diabetes, etc. Any ideas?

I agree. We just recently adopted a basset hound shelter dog. When we got her home, everything was fine until one day she was in a deep sleep and started having a seizure. Unaware of what was going on, I called the vet. On the way, she had another. After suffering three seizures within five days, they diagnosed her with idiopathic epilepsy. She is doing fine now on medication, but it would have been helpful to have a better description of what this truly means.

You should describe what seizures look like, because many people assume a dog is having a seizure when they aren't.
