Why doesn't Yates just pass a law that once dog fighters are convicted that they be euthanized? Dog fighting doesn't just involve innocent Pit Bulls that are trained to be killers, but bait animals, drugs, and homocides. Children are allowed to attend these senseless and barbaric dog fights. What kind of sick people would condone any of this, and what kind of example is this to set for children? These are all good enough reasons to just put the dog fighters to sleep! If these fools knew they would pay w/ their own lives I can almost guarantee dog fighting would stop!

And another problem to present to the scholarly Mr. Yates, cars accidents take more lives and cause more injury each year than pit bull type dogs do. Should the residents of Ohio expect you to introduce a ban on their vehicles or their driver's licenses? Which will it be oh mighty savior of the world Yates?

Yates, you are a fool. So foolish that you are comical. Do you think that only pit bull type dogs can be trained to be dangerous? Is that what you think? The fact is, pit bull type dogs are not the only dogs who can "pose a threat to your children" any dog can. Are you to ignorant to realize this? How do you know these "chidren" that you are so concerned with protectcing aren't going to grow up to be serial killers, robbers, or rapist? What are you going to do to protect your community from them? Take note buddy, you can't save the world, but if you insist on trying, then make your efforts worth while. You have no right damning the innocent, so until you have cause to prove that EVERY pit bull type dog is a threat, then you have no right to try to prevent the ownership of them. You, Yates, are the biggest threat in your community. You, Yates, have a very communisitic attitude towards solving issues. You should be banned...

I almost can't believe this. This bill would discriminate against the many responsible owners of pit bulls. Most pit bulls are family loving, playful, members of human families.

These senators are going under the assumption that every pitbull owner is training their dog to fight. Why are wonderful pet owners put in the same category as evil and malicious pitbull fighting groups? Go after the Michael Vicks of the world with your legislation, not loving pet owners. Killing our loving family pets will not stop the pitbull fighting. It is just easier to find our pets than to find the balls to go up against the Michael Vicks of this world. You are just creating alot of heartache. These senators should be voted out of office.

This is just one more way the government is trying to run our lives. To ban a specific breed of dog is just ridiculous. Why don't we worry about more important things like illegal immigration or our economy?

I think the senator is crazy. you can not blame a dog no mater what the breed for doing what it has ben taught to do. I live in kansas. where they judge the dog on iits own merrits. not the breed. most pit bull dogs have to be trained to bite a human.

I think that this is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. I thought it was bad when Denver did it. I own a pit and she is a wonderful loving dog. She is always happy and wagging at everone and trying to lick everyone and other dogs. It's all in how you raise them. If they want to ban something then they need to ban the stupid people that raise them to be mean. If the good people of Ohio would look at the history of the breed they would see that they were bred to be non-aggressive to humans. All I can say is that ignorance breeds ignorance!

I own a pit bull and she is an amazing dog. She is not a VICIOUS dog!!! It's the people, the THUGS that likes the dog fighting that are training the pit bulls to attack each other. They lock up the pit bulls in chained and in SMALL cage that it made them so angry and vicious at people. It is NOT their FAULT!! It's the OWNER's fault that trained them to be THAT way. First they went after the ROTTI, then the DOBERMAN, now it's the PITS? What is wrong with these people?? Leave the DOGS alone!!!!

OMG, talk about the wrong way to go about things! This is horrible. First of all, they should go after the owners who encourage/raise vicious dogs. Its one thing to go after a dog that has repeatedly bitten - but to ban the breed?! That would cause me to move out of the state, as I own a dog that is part pitbull - and he is the most gentle, loving dog ever. He's had unfriendly small lap dogs snarl and snap at him because they are not properly socialized and he just looks at them. NO WAY would I surrender him to be euthanized just because he is part pitbull.

Working for a pit bull and bully breed rescue, this crushes my heart. These animals are some of the kindest and loyal pets anyone could own. Lets ban the idiots who train them to fight. I could train any dog to fight....even a poodle!!

That's too bad. How to people expect Pit Bulls to be sweet dogs when they train them to fight?

Ripping pets from responsible owners homes to be euthanized is a horrible and unjust action. This ban would punish innocent pets and destroy their responsible owners. This is no better an idea than euthanizing people infected with AIDS to rid the world of this disease.

The Ohio ban on PIt Bulls makes me very sad and angry. I admit that alot of APBTs fall into the wrong hands adn are possibly better off being euthanizes than staying in a bad home, but we as a society seem to focus only on those bad homes, and not the plenty of wonderful pit owners. I am the prowd owner of a rescued pit, and I can't imagine the heartbreak that my family would go throgh if we were asked to surrender him for euthanasia, because of his breed alone. He is a wonderful dog, and should not be punished because of his breed. I can understand not bringing new pits into a place, but there is no reason to make the law retroactive and have people lose their beloved family members.

Please don't ban pit bulls from ohio! It is not just the breed that's aggressive. It's more of the owners and how they take care of it. Look at humans. same difference. it depends on how you raise your kids to make an impression on how they will act. So please... Reconsider this bill!

I think that this bill would be completely unfair. Just because some people choose to teach their dogs to fight dosen't mean all owners do. Besides even if they are trained to fight dosen't make it the dogs fault it makes it the owners fault, there for dogs should not be punished.
