I am just a junior handler in my late teens, but grooming is always fun for me. I really want to apprentice in a grooming shop... that would be my dream.

I think you should really love dogs...especially since many of them really dislike being groomed. If you are a good groomer, pat yourself on the back!

I work where grooming is also available and it takes a special person to do what they do.

Hello, I have been grooming for 20 years and i could never think i myself doing anything else. If you have an artistic side and dont like to express yourself by painting, grooming may be your thing. I am always excited when something shaggy comes in the door and they say do what you want. You truely have to love animals and be a very patiet person.

I have been grooming since I was 10yrs.old. I grew up in my moms shop. I have 35yrs of experience. I still love it. If you are thinking of becoming a proffesional groomer. It a very hard job, not all play time. You need to be able to read the dogs body language and know the differnt breeds. Learn as much as possible from experienced groomers not the books!Start at the bottom and learn each step. And you must know how to talk to people and know what they want. They have to trust you with their pet. Like their child.

Great article! I always groom my dog myself, but I don't think I would like to do it all day everyday!

This is a very interesting article. I am thinking about dog grooming as a business, so this really helped.
