I have a big dog and so I needed to double my batch to ensure full coverage and it has worked wonderfully. Thank you for posting this.

This made me chuckle in many ways... First last night my Black Lab was playing in the woods and I started to smell something (he was outside that's how bad he smelled) so I got up. I went outside and he was the happiest he had ever been. If I could have read his mind it would have been funny I guarantee. I tried the whole Tomato Juice thing and it didn't work he had to sleep in the garage, but this morning I am using the solution and let's pray it works. I laughed because now that I am not as mad this story relates to me so well.

Thanks for the Tip

The solution worked great. I would reccomend this over tomato soup. What do you do to get rid of the smell from the area on the snout and around the eyes. That seems to be the only area I can still smell it?

Just used your solution . . . AWESOME! Thank you so much for sharing. My dog is 99% back to normal in just one bath.

Amen, YES! This is a solution that I will share with all of my canine-loving friends. 30 minutes later and I'm off to bed. Of course, the dog will *not* be taking her usual post at the foot of the bed tonight (she's still wet and does get to stay in the mud room). But there's more of a residual skunk smell in the house that happened through leaky windows than is being emitted from the dog. Thank you!

Our boxer got nailed by a skunk last night. We washed her in your remedy and it worked amazingly well. She's stink free and her coat is very soft. Thanks - what a life saver.

A papillon who chases rabbits found a black and white one! The solution works great, but I didn't want to get it too close to her eyes so she's still a lil' skunky, but 90% better.

Your home remedy was a life saver for our Golden and for us. I washed her ASAP with the solution along with her shampoo and it is actually barely noticeable. She will even get to spend the night in the house tonight. She thanks you and so do we!!!!!!!

Our golden was just sprayed last night...rather during the wee hours of this

Thanks for the home remedy.

this was dead on. I agree with administering the mix as fast as possible also...less time for the skunk's oils to set in. THANKS A TON KATHY!

My dog just got sprayed by a skunk an 1 hour ago and already back in the house! i followed "steph from WI" submission, using baking soda and dog shampoo. i quickly wash dog which smelled awful. made 1st bath with baking soda and shampoo rising right away(mixing in hand). followed with 2nd bath and let sit for 10 minutes then washed generously, dried with towel and done in 45 minutes. quick action definitely help.

My shepherd mix got skunked last night at midnight!! I turned to the internet for a home remedy as I did not have any tomato juice. Found this recipe, thank God. I also sprayed on Bio-Kleen Bac Out which is a biodegradable non-toxic lime enzyme solution that I use on my daughters cloth diapers for odor and stain removal. It got us through the night and I repeated it this morning. The skunk odor is barely apparent. Thanks so much. I agree that you should apply the treatment ASAP so that the oil doesn't have a lot of time to soak into the skin. Do this, open some windows and light some candles and you will survive "The Spray"!!

I tried the peroxide mixture on my German
and my Corgie, it was amazing how fast the
disipated. But they sure did not like the follow up bath in the middle of winter.

Get your dog bathed as quick as possible so it doesn't "soak in". No way would I leave my dog to smell that awful smell overnight! If it is making you sick, what do you think it is doing to your dog?? My dog foamed from the mouth when she got sprayed too!
