Call the vet? That's the best you can do? Waste of my time.

I have a two year old bulldog mix that has patches of thinning fur on his sides. Our vet said it is thyroid related and put him a meds for treatment. Since he has been on the meds, the patches seem to be bigger. Bully's dander has been very active, it almost looks like dandruff. He's been bathed in medicated shampoo. We are at totally lost as to what is going on. Can anyone help us?

I have two Shih Tzus, and one of them (the male) started having very dry itchy skin as soon as winter started. He's 6 yrs. old and never had this problem before. My groomer advised me to give him fish oil caps and possible change food. I did both. I ordered the fish caps from my vet and switched their food to herring meal, potato and rice formula, and it worked wonders. I had been feeding them chicken meal with oatmeal & rice formula for 6 yrs. Both are made by Nutro.

I couldn't find any help for my yellow Lab who is licking his paws till till it is red and bleeds. I have bathed him with special shampoo. I don;t use chemicals and nothing in his diet or environment has changed. he also licks his abdomen till he has a spot maceratd. No lumbs bumps or visible rashes are detectable to me. No behavior if you can he is miserable. My other dogs in the home do npt have any skin issues.

Our 1 1/2 yr.old black lab and been very itchy and flakey for the last couple of months, too. Nothing has changed either with Ivan's diet or shampoos or bedding. Nothing gets sprayed on the floor when he's in the house - if I do spray there is plenty of time to dry and I don't do it that often anyway. I took him into the vet and was told our dog was very impacted and very "full". Our vet said that since this seemed to be a localized skin problem that once he relieved and emptied himself, this might help with the problem. The vet suggested Benadryl (or generic) and maybe that might help. So far no luck. Even tried presciption shampoo for sensitive skin from our vet. Now we're going to try elimination. I've been give the dog knuckle bones lately. Maybe I've been giving him too many. That's our first elimination. Otherwise our poor dog may be one who has a skin problem and we'll have to help him out as best as we

I know I haven't answered any question, but you're not

P.S. Maine is awesome!!!

Our dog has started scratching all hours of the day and night, dropping hair even after a complete grooming- she is a black lab- approx 8 years
She has been on the same dog food for years, no changes to anything else except children leaving to go to college....empty
what can i do for her skin...seems dryer with flaking esp after I groomed her.
