Klaire Ozark, MO 5/21/2007 2:48:15 PM This article is really helpful. It will be great for when I introduce my Mini Schnauzer to my kittens! It mentions that you need to set your dog up to succeed, not to fail.
Nickie El Cajon, CA 5/21/2007 7:57:55 AM I too have a dog that loves to jump on me. He mostly does this in the morning and when I get home from work he is excited to see me. I started training him not to do this if I am standing up by putting my hands out in front of me and I firmly say NO -- Down if he obeys, I praise him, if he does not get down on his own, I gently with both hands put him in down position (off of me) while saying the word down, when he is down I pet him and say good boy. It will take time and you have to be consistant. He's not jumping on me as much.

michelle Rochester, IN 4/10/2007 7:48:00 AM I have started rescueing parrots. Toby, my pit bull, is very good with the larger bird but it's the smaller birds I'm worried about. How do I teach her that if a small bird tries to fly that she needs to ignore it?
Hazel Kansas City, MO 3/2/2007 7:11:05 AM I have a large puppy 5 months, he is part Lab, German Sherpard and Pit. It is getting to the point where I hate going out to feed him. He wants to jump on you. I've been telling him No, or Stop, or Down, It is a constantl struggle.
