Melodie St. Joseph Twp, WI 9/18/2008 2:28:07 PM Hi, I enjoyed reading some of the answers for a fearful pet. Our Corgi is 1 year old next week. A few months ago, my husband accidentally pulled a chain attached to a ceiling fan in the peak of our home. She went running off. Now she won't even come into that room unless she runs past it fast. This is our kitchen/living area where we spend all of our time. She just goes and hides under a bed. She is still a puppy and I want her to enjoy being in that room. It never bothered her before that. A veterinarian's assistant told me to block the room off and let her get adjusted to it, but its too large of an area that also has an addition attached. Is it a good idea to tie her up out there when we are there so she can see its alright? The fan isn't even on when she does this. HELP! I need some answers. Thank you.

Carolle Frederick, MD 8/14/2008 12:31:51 PM Obedience training works for some. I foster a lot, and am not blessed with endless time with these dogs to overcome everything. Sometimes I have to resort to sedation for thunderstorms/fireworks, or pick them up and carry them past something they're fearful of (and then note this in their adoption file). Sorry, gang, but such is the work of a rescuer.
